Official Smallville Failsday Challenge

With all the publicity the S8 finale episode has gotten I’m pretty sure that Doomsday shouldn’t have been Failsday, but woo! boy was it (for Chloe/Davis fans, Chlarkoom fans, Chlark fans, fight!scene fans or anyone who loved the real! characters of Chloe, Davis and/or Clark).

In the interest of our ship/ship triangles, our characters, and some decent resolution I bring you the SV Failsday Challenge.


Guidelines/Rules (for authors):
I. Rewrite Failsday!
a.) Pick one line/concept/idea/scene or more from Failsday and run with it (and un-crapify it). ex: that last scene with the anvil!chimmy? Write Jimmy out. Write Clark in.

b.) Do your own perspective/telling of the episode. It may be anything at all because you are God. ex: <insert Jor-El here>.
Due to popular demand you may also…

c.) Write something that would have changed/invalidated Doomsday completely. (ex: Chloe and Davis get away in Beast and go live in the Amazon rainforest? Give it to me now!)

II. Please do not smoke crack while writing. After seeing Doomsday we know that the result is not pretty.

III. This is a Chlarkoom Challenge so it must involve Clark, Chloe and Davis as the centerpieces. Final pairing must have some configuration thereof. Or you don’t need a final pairing. (Exceptions… Dex! Chloerge! :p )

IV. A Chlimmy/Chlenry-whochamacallit lightswitch! is not allowed. Under any circumstances. (If you follow II this won’t be a problem.)

V. There are no rating limits. G? nc-17? Up to you.

VI. Likewise, no genre limits. It could be steampunk!

Writing signups will be in this thread. Type ‘I’m in!’ or some variation thereof and a word that reflects your piece (ex: In! Arctic.) You will be added post-haste.
Authors will be added to the list until June 1st, 2000 (the deadline for the pieces) wherein voting will ensue.
Submissions will be posted by you/the authors on sv_failsday with short teaser/summary and under a cut. So join!

Voting:
I. For the challenge there will be two voting categories (provided that there are enough signups).
a. Short pieces (scene rewrites, ending rewrites, whatever). They are 700 words minimum (not counting author’s notes whatever else).
b. Whole episode rewrites (may be preferable, because they go into the pick the real! canon vote and the prizes are just bigger). 2000 words+.
II. For a vote to be counted, the voter must leave feedback.
All authors vote (preferably not for themselves), as well as those awesome people who have volunteered to read and feed authors. We love you guys!

III. Voting will be done on June 1st and 2nd on a special screened post. The info will come up on this comm, on sv_failsday and my journal.

IV. Winners will be chosen by majority vote. I will participate (yes! ep rewrite!) but I can't be voted.

Now…Prizes.
This will be a quite different kind of contest because the prizes are pretty much pick and choose.
Prizes as per the winning authors’ choices may be music, writing pieces, and art.

For Episode Rewrites:
First Place: Either 15 mp3 songs of the author’s choice. (Hint: Sam Witwer’s Crashtones album is choose-able), a long writing piece of the winning author’s choice (by moi, not to be conceited, but because canon must be rewritten), or complex! SV Chlarkoom art/ an e-card.
Second Place: 5 mp3 songs of the winning author’s choice (Hint: Crashtones mp3s are choose-able), art!, or an e-card.

For Short Pieces
First Place: 5 mp3s of the author’s choice and a short writing piece of their choice.

Second Place: 3 mp3s or authors choice, a banner, or a drabble.

Notice: All winners may be subjected to secrit!thank you e-cards.

There are win!banners for all participants and the satisfaction of knowing that together we have singlehandedly defeated the crack!monkeys.


Results will be posted on June 4th unless an extension or extensions are requested.
